The 500km loop from home is deeply personal to me. It was my first real solo-and-very-long ride back in 2017 and as I have learned and explored the area more I have added to, taken from and fallen more in love with the roads and trails that it covers.
These are roads that I’ve raced, trained, toured and honeymooned on. Every metre of the route is full of stories and memories for me, good and bad, and linking them all into one big day out just feels special, and is a celebration of riding for me.
For a few years it was my mid-winter suffer fest too, but it’s definitely a celebration now and I prefer it that way…even if it still hurts a bit :)

Still holding her ground as the women’s Everesting world record holder, Illi Gardner set the bar high in 2022 with a time of 8:03:29—over 30 minutes faster than her previous record in 2021. When we caught up with her, Illi shared: “Everesting is still the toughest challenge I’ve faced—physically and mentally. It completely changed my perspective on suffering! If you’re into endurance, climbing, or testing your limits, I can’t recommend it enough.”

“In November 2021, I was riding my bike and a car hit me from behind. I flew across the road for 5 meters and the impact on the ground caused me to break a vertebra. After 5 weeks in hospital and an operation on my spine in which they installed 2 20 cm long bars that keep my back straight, I started walking again. They had told me that I would struggle to stay on the bike for more than a few hours, yet on June 27, 2024 I achieved my FIRST Everesting by bike. On the day of my Everesting, I opened a fundraiser and raised 2000€ for an Italian association that helps terminally ill cancer patients. I doubled the donations with my own of the same amount reaching 4000€.I’m happy, thank you!”
